When we created the Valhalla Series, we didn’t just set out to make another premium knife. 

We set out to put the soul, the story, and the inspiration back into culinary tool design. 

On a frozen winter night in Yellowknife, Northwest Canada, our Director of Product Design sat under the Northern Lights. 

Rivers of color, erupting and cascading through the night sky. He thought of Norse mythology, Viking legend, Asgard and Odin.  And he thought of Valhalla. 

That moment became the heart of the Valhalla Series: a handle that captures the Aurora, that feels like it’s coming to life in your hand. 

Five years ago, most high-end knives looked clean and modern, but felt cold. 

Over-engineered. Lifeless. The tools worked. But they didn’t move you. 

That night, our designer was moved. And he decided to make a different kind of chef knife — that you could stare at through the longest shifts, had a story designed right into it, and held its own against the very best knives in the business. 

We were told again and again that you can’t have all three: performance, aesthetics, and reliability.

That if a knife looked this bold, it couldn’t be a serious tool. We never bought that.

Further design cues came from Norse mythology and ancient Viking culture. The jimped spine from ancient runes, the sheath from viking weaponry holsters. But none of it was decoration for decoration’s sake. We built myth into every detail so you could feel it — even when you’re just chopping a carrot.

Each handle is cast individually from stabilized wood and resin—so no two are ever exactly the same. That wasn’t a manufacturing quirk. That was the point. Every Valhalla Series knife is unique. Just like the cook holding it.

We launched with a chef knife. But before long the people demanded more.
